THE PASSION
A Poem
Stan Schmidt

The Passion

skeptics will always exist
but the truth they have missed
being blinded by the pride
inside
or some other lie
about the reason Jesus came to die
but the loss is theirs
holding to their spiritual errors
resisting renewal
since humility is the jewel
without which we have no treasure
and by which everything Christ will measure
now His sufferings were relentless
but He was not defenseless
because He chose the pain of His own accord
and submitted to the evil horde
beating Him at will
with an intent to kill
for to the slaughter He was the Lamb
the great I AM
being that sacrifice
that would suffice
so the Father could forgive
and let the sinners live
inasmuch as the Passion
was filled with compassion
since the salvation of many a soul
was the Crucified's ultimate goal
