In thought I stood at the manger today,
I saw God's Son asleep on the hay;
Tears in my eyes, what could I say?
I saw the inn and keeper who turned Him away.What was His purpose, His coming to earth,
Born in a stable, a low manger's birth?
Only God knows what it was worth
To see His Son that way.Then in my thinking, time fled by,
I saw God's Son getting ready to die;
To give new life to a rebel like I
That so long had turned Him away.Calvary's now history by man a year,
And still men are bound in their sin and fear;
Ignoring the truth that God longs they would hear;
They are turning His Son away.But He's coming again to this earth below,
The hour and the day I do not know;
There will be weeping and wailing, God says it's so,
When His Son turns man away.I ask you now to give some thought
To the issue perhaps you so long have fought;
As I ask, or perhaps you'd rather I not -
But where will you be that day?
