I STOOD AT THE MANGER
Ken Reedy

In thought I stood at the manger today,
I saw God's Son asleep on the hay;
Tears in my eyes, what could I say?
I saw the inn and keeper who turned Him away.
What was His purpose, His coming to earth,
Born in a stable, a low manger's birth?
Only God knows what it was worth
To see His Son that way.
Then in my thinking, time fled by,
I saw God's Son getting ready to die;
To give new life to a rebel like I
That so long had turned Him away.
Calvary's now history by man a year,
And still men are bound in their sin and fear;
Ignoring the truth that God longs they would hear;
They are turning His Son away.
But He's coming again to this earth below,
The hour and the day I do not know;
There will be weeping and wailing, God says it's so,
When His Son turns man away.
I ask you now to give some thought
To the issue perhaps you so long have fought;
As I ask, or perhaps you'd rather I not -
But where will you be that day?
